SEXTO SENTIDO: CUBA’S MOST IMPORTANT FEMALE QUARTET OUT IN THE U.S. Sexto Sentido releases their long awaited record. “Los Angeles, CA (June 16) -SEXTO SENTIDO, recognized as the leading Female Vocal Group by Cuba’s most influential and critical music icons. Certified by Chucho Valdés as ”Creators of the most important vocal-work in Cuba in past three decades”. Their ability to dwell inside complex harmonic arrangements transcends well beyond Cuba. “MI FEELING”, Sexto Sentido’s latest musical repertoire, will be released nationwide June 17 under Ahi-Nama Music, one of the leading labels at forefront of Cuban Music for the last 14 years. “MI FEELING” has already achieved high remarks including Best Vocal Recording at CUBADISCO EXPO. With this latest release, Sexto Sentido implements their own style and interpretation of the classic works of Cuba’s most respected writers and composers, such as René Touzet, Marta Valdés and Jose Dolores Quiñones. SEXTO SENTIDO is a familiar entity with international audiences; do to frequent appearances in the European Jazz Festival Circuit, as well as in Latin America at various Cultural Festivals representing the Best of Cuba. As the leading entity of vocal-harmony in Cuba, they frequently collaborate with artists such as Chucho Valdés, Pablo Milanés, Silvio Rodriguez, and they have worked with contemporary music producers like Guy Sigsworth and Norman Cook, aka Fatboy-Slim, on multiple tracks for film soundtracks for the London based studio NDF International. As their musical style and complexity matures, it is not rare to find them performing along with National Cuban Symphonic Orchestra like on a recent performance in Angola.
ABOUT SEXTO SENTIDO SEXTO SENDTIDO (Melvis Santa Estévez Guzmán, Arlety Valdés Cana, Yudelkis Lafuente Acea, and Eliene Castillo Borrero) Alumni’s of the prestigious Cuban Music Conservatory Amadeo Roldán in La Havana, majoring in Music Theory. These four young ladies started their singing career together in their early teens singing for several school functions. Immediately after completing their formal musical training, they started singing professionally. Just after a few months of performing in the local music scene, their name and reputation became a staple in the Cuban Music Culture. Their talent promptly placed them as the preferred group used at Cuban State Functions, representing the new talent of Cuba. After traveling abroad for various Cultural Events, Sexto Sentido recorder their first record “Bossa Cubana” (Elephant Records), a collection of classic Brazilian songs with Cuban elements. In support of the record, they began touring Europe, were their style quickly became a success and landed them at the center of the European Jazz Scene. Quickly afterwards they became a household name in Russia, France, Bulgaria, and Monaco. Sexto Sentido naturally gravitated to Latin America as participants in various Cultural Events. Now, with the release of their second album “Mi Feeling” (Ahi-Nama), their sights are set to capture audiences in North America in the upcoming weeks.
